Tarmo KALVET
(1976) is a member of Board and Director of Innovation Programme
at PRAXIS Center for Policy Styudies, Estonia. Tarmo Kalvet has
graduated from the University of Tartu (Estonia) with MPA (cum
laude) and B.A. in Public Administration and social policy, and
also continues his PhD studies there. Before joining PRAXIS, he
has worked for Archimedes Foundation as analyst for the
ICT-sector cluster-study “Estonian eVikings” (2001 – 6/2002) and
as Estonian project manager for the “European Survey of
Information Society”, and assistant to the 5FP Information
Society Technologies National Contact Point (1999-2000). In 1997
– 1998 he worked as local expert co-ordinating the subfield
“Information Networks Development” for the “Phare Public
Development Programme in Estonia”, the project implemented by
the the Finnish Institute of Public Management and TietoEnator
(Finland).

Chris SADLER is a principal lecturer in the School of
Computing Science at Middlesex University, LONDON. He works as
the coordinator of postgraduate projects (dissertations) and
occupies the post of curriculum leader for postgraduate
distance-learning (Global Campus) programmes. Aside from
research interests in the field of Computer Science, he has
worked on a number of national and international projects in
distance education and e-learning. His principal contributions
to these projects have been in the areas of e-pedagogy, remote
tutor support and e-learning delivery and administration.

MORETTI (1965). took a degree in Educational Science
(Pedagogy) at University of Bologna in 1988.
She is the head of the Unit “Evaluation and training
design” of SCIENTER, a non-profit research organisation
active in the field of innovation of education and
training systems. In particular she is involved at
national and European levels in projects focused on:
assessment of eLearning materials, quality of eLearning
services, pedagogy of ODL, quality assessment of
innovative projects which employ ICT in the process of

Kerstin SIAKAS (1953) is assistant professor at the
Department of Informatics, Technological Educational Institute
of Thessaloniki, Greece (17 years). She is the academic
responsible for the research laboratory “Information and
Management Systems” in the department as well as for the
“Entrepreneurship” program in the University. Her teaching
includes Economics and Organization, Management Information
Systems, Project Management and Software Quality Assurance. She
also has an extensive industrial experience in developing
Information Systems on different levels (programmer, analyst, IT
manager) from mainly global organizations in different
countries. She is engaged in research in Information Systems
Engineering, Multidisciplinary Approaches for Software
Engineering, Knowledge Management and Software Quality
Management. She has a particular interest in the social,
cultural and political approaches and their effect on society,
such as outsourcing, eLearning, digital divide and eInclusion,
as well as on the subsequent challenges for managers, educators
and governments. She has published around 50 papers about her
research in international refereed conferences, journals and
book chapters. She holds a BSc and MSc in Economics from Åbo
Academy, Finland and a PhD in Computing from London Metropolitan
University, UK. |

Veronika Stoffova (1951) represents the Department of Informatics
at Janos Selye University in Komarno, Slovakia. She also teaches
part-time at Palacký University, Olomouc, CZ, Faculty of
Education, Department of Technology and Information Education.
She received her PhD in Technical cybernetics at the Slovak
Technical University, Bratislava in 1982. She also has a
Professor Degree for specialisation in Theory of teaching of
mathematics at Constantine the Philosopher University, Nitra.
She is the member of numerous Scientific Boards (e.g. at the
Faculty of Natural Sciences of Constantine the Philosopher
University, Nitra, SK, and at the J. Selye University, Komárno,
SK) and also member of the Committee of International
Scientific Organization of Czech and Slovak Society. |

Robert
PINTER (1975)
is a scientific and strategic director
of the BME-UNESCO Information Society Research Institute
(ITTK) and assistant professor at the Department
of Information and Knowledge Management, Technical
University of Budapest. He participated in many
projects, and also has experiences as teacher in the
following areas:
theory of information society,
information strategies, information policy, European
development of information society,
social/cultural/political aspects of internet, digital
divide and eInclusion, e-democracy and e-government,
e-readiness assessment, new media and convergence.
He has been invited as a country
expert in several EU-projects and events. He is
editor of the Hungarian Information Society
Quarterly and representative of Hungary in
International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP)
Computer and Society Technical Committee. He has written
a book on Finnish Information Society. He gained an MA
in Sociology (1999) and Political Science (2000) and a
PhD in Sociology (2005) (ELTE, Budapest). |
